Q1Do I need roof space for CloudSolar's offsite solar?
No. Our offsite model generates power at a remote solar farm and credits it to your DISCOM bill through legally established frameworks — Group Captive, Open Access, or Virtual Net Metering, depending on your situation. Your premises don't need a single panel.
Q2What happens if I relocate my business or close down before the contract ends?
Contracts include assignment and exit clauses tailored to your structure. For Group Captive arrangements, your equity in the SPV is transferable to a new owner if your business changes hands. For Open Access PPAs, contract assignment provisions allow continuation under new ownership. For full closure, exit terms are defined upfront — typically a buyout based on the remaining contract value, discounted appropriately. We document everything before you sign.
Q3Is CloudSolar's offsite model legally recognized?
Yes. Group Captive structures are codified under Section 9 of the Electricity Act 2003 and supported by multiple state regulatory orders. Open Access PPAs operate under the Green Energy Open Access Rules 2022. Virtual Net Metering frameworks were formally introduced in Telangana (TSERC, 2025) and Karnataka (KERC DSPV reforms, 2025). All our offerings work within these established legal mechanisms.
Q4How is CloudSolar different from putting solar on my own rooftop?
Three differences matter. First, you don't need rooftop space — relevant if you're a tenant, lack structural capacity, or simply prefer not to install on your premises. Second, capacity isn't limited by your roof size — you can subscribe to any quantity that matches your consumption. Third, all maintenance is handled by us, with real-time monitoring you can access. The financial outcome is similar to rooftop solar (or sometimes better, due to optimized farm placement); the operational burden is dramatically lower.
Q5How is the 75% generation guarantee structured?
Our standard contracts include a minimum generation threshold below which we provide financial compensation. Specifically, if generation falls below 75% of estimated output for a contracted period, we compensate you for the shortfall in cash. This puts our economic interests in alignment with yours — we have a direct financial reason to ensure the system performs as promised. Most solar providers in India don't offer this; we do.
Q6What are the tax benefits for my business?
Solar investments may qualify for Section 32 Accelerated Depreciation (40% in Year 1) under the Income Tax Act for businesses owning solar assets. Manufacturing businesses may additionally qualify for 20% Additional Depreciation. GST-registered businesses can claim Input Tax Credit on equipment costs. The specific benefits available to you depend on your business structure, your tax position, and the product structure we'd recommend. We work with your CA to ensure all claims are validated before you commit.
Q7What is the contract tenure?
Twenty-five years for the asset lifecycle, with the specific PPA terms varying by product. Group Captive arrangements typically run for 15-25 years. Open Access PPAs are usually 15-20 years. RESCO rooftop is 15-20 years. Exact terms are negotiated based on your situation.
